A Place to Paint

Finally! A place to paint! My little brother, David, moved to the basement, leaving the bedroom next to mine empty. My parents agreed to let me use it as a painting room-- although I'm sure my mother had ulterior motives: no more painting stuff all over the dining room table. And I don't have to be squished at the little desk I've had since elementary school. I think we'll eventually move the computer in here and it'll be a painting room slash office, but for now, it's all mine! And Toby's, of course. Toby's kennel and bed will be in here, too.

Art Journal: Doodle # 4

Another doodle. I thought I was finished but decided to go back and add more interest to the sky. Not too happy with the result, but what can ya do?

Doodles in Progress

I have a couple of doodles in the works in my art journal. Here are some photos: I'm really enjoying drawing with no intentions or ideas about what the end result will be. I'm finding that I am more confident with a pen in my hand than a pencil.

Art Journal: Doodle #2

Here is one of my finished doodles, painted and all: I almost wish I would have left it here and not painted the rest (10x7)

Doodles from my Journal

I've been doodling for a couple of days now and I've really enjoyed it. It sure helps pass the time at work and I like to see what I come up with. Here are a few pictures from my art journal. They will all eventually be painted.

A Zentangle Card for Tom

Time to write Tom another letter! I'm diggin' this whole zentangle thing so I decided to use it on Tom's card--nothin' fancy, just trying stuff out. (front) (quote on inside w/ zentangle on the left) As usual, I ended with some of my favorite words of wisdom/encouragement: "I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. I choose to risk my significance; to live so that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom. And that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit." --Dawn Markova

Orange Lily

I have a long list of things I want to paint and flowers are at the very top! Probably because I am ready for spring and I miss them. I've been trying really hard not to paint flowers lately, but now it's all I can think about. In this painting, I tried to just paint everything one layer at a time. I really like the effect and I think I'll be doing it again. (6x9)

Art Journal-- Doodle #1

I work in a call center for part of the day and I needed something to do between calls (pinterest can only entertain me for so long). I thought art journaling might be fun so I got a small travel watercolor book and a felt tip pen. My plan is to doodle while I am at work and then throw some color on it when I get home. This is my first attempt at zentangling (I think. I'm not quite sure what qualifies as a zentangle. I like the word "doodling" better anyway). I just combined all of the "zentangles" that I liked into one picture. I learned that I don't like circles as fillers and I shouldn't try to make up my own zentangle. Neither of those things turned out very well. (10x7)
